What exactly do these apps do? Are they merely for passing time and entertainment, or can they have some kind of practical purpose?

That cell phone apps are only something to be fiddled with in free time is a completely wrong belief! The answer of course is that depending on the application in question, it can be purely for fun, entertainment, or can have specific uses and come in very handy indeed!

For example, the app that helps in home decoration, combined with one that gives Feng Shui advice, can actually obviate the need to hire a home decorator! If this doesn’t sound practical and useful, I don’t know what will!
